English term: Twenty Secondary Afflictions
English Definition: One of the six categories of mental factors according to Asanga’s classification in the Abhidharmasamucchaya. The secondary afflictions are derived from the root afflictions. They are: hatred, resentment, concealment, spite, envy, miserliness, pretension, dishonesty, pomposity, cruelty, lack of integrety, lack of consideration, dullness, agitation, lack of faith, laziness, heedlessness, forgetfulness, lack of introspection, and distraction.
