English term: Division into Four Samādhis
English Definition: They are: 1. “First Good Dhyāna” is the first pure or undefiled dhyāna. By means of this absoprtion worldly happiness is obtained as a result. 2. The cultivation of samādhi which has supernormal knowledge and the divine eye (produced from meditation) for its result is the second. 3. The cultivation of samādhi which has for its result the attainment of excellent comprehension is the third. 4. “Likened to a Vajra of the Fourth Dhyāna” (Skt. Vajropamasamādhi). This absorption destroys all the defilements as its result.
