English Definition: One of the three uncompounded phenomena, defined as the permanent elimination of an affliction due to meditative analysis into the true nature of phenomena. Analytical cessations are permanent, since they ensure the permanent absence of a specific affliction once the latter has been eliminated. The truth of cessation, the third truth of the four noble truths, involves analytical cessations of the different afflictions.
