prathamadhyāna
Tibetan: བསམ་གཏན་དང་པོ་
Tibetan (Wylie): bsam gtan dang po
Tibetan (phonetics): sam ten dang po
English term: First Dhyāna
Alternative: First meditative absorption
English Definition: The first meditative absorption within the Form Realm. The base is either a. a taking rebirth within one of first three abodes of the Form Realm or b. a lower abiding being possessing a physical support and entering into the meditative absorption of the first dhyana. It is characterized by five branches: applied and sustained thought, rapture, bliss, and meditative stabilization (samadhi). Attaining it creates an unmovable karma that results in rebirth in the first stage of heavens within the form realm in the very next life, which is associated with this meditative absorption.
Spanish: Primera absorción meditativa
