English Definition: The fourth meditative absorption within the Form Realm. Includes both the mundane and pure domains of the fourth dhyāna. The base is either a. taking rebirth within the three mundane domains or five pure domains of the Form Realm or b. a lower abiding being possessing a physical support and entering into the meditative absorption of the fourth dhyana. Note only noble beings can enter the pure domains. The fourth meditative absorption of the form realm is characterized by four branches: equanimity, recollection, an equanimous feeling that is neither painful nor pleasant, and samadhi.
