English term: Basis of uncompounded phenomena
English definition: Phenomena that are not produced by nor arise from the coming together of causes and conditions. They do not undergo arising, staying, decaying and being destroyed. They are not able to perform a function. According to the Sarvāstivāda Abhidharma, there are three uncompounded phenomena: space, analytical cessation and non-analytical cessation. They are synonymous with “non-entity”, “something permanent”, “something unproduced”, “a generality”.
