arhat
Tibetan: དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་
Tibetan (Wylie): dgra bcom pa
Tibetan (phonetics): dra chom pa
English term: Arhat
Alternative: Foe-destroyer
English definition: One who has completely overcome the enemy of the disturbing emotions, hence the name Foe-destroyer. There are two kinds of arhats: those with remainder and those without remainder. An Arhat with remainder is one who has attained Arhatship but still possess the aggregates (i.e. they abide in the one of the realms). An Arhat without remainder is when all physical and mental attributes have been relinquished and thus has entered into the nirvana without remainder (Skt. nirupadhiśeṣanirvāna / anupadhiṣanirvāna, Tib. lhag med mya ngan ‘das pa).
Spanish: Arjat (“Destructor del enemigo”)
